«VOLODAR» The
folk band «Volodar» was created in 1993 year by Irina Klimenko under the
movement of the “authentic singing”, founded by the Kyiv folk group “Drevo”.
Since 2003 year the artistic leader of band is Margarita Skazhenik, who is
the ethnographer, musicologist, teacher, researcher of the scientific
research laboratory of musical ethnography at the National musical academy
of Ukraine named by P.I.Chaykovskiy. The
participants of band work
with the last generation of owners of ethnic music in the
research expeditions. They
still remember how lyric songs and ancient sacral melodies of ancient
Ukrainian holidays were carried out. We,
young researchers, are interested in ancient traditions and magic of the collective singing
– which represents by itself the unison of vibrant timbres, which
influence at the soul and nature, which mysticly influence both at
performers and listeners. A group performed Christmas Carol, Provodi Zimy, Zaklikanya vesny and
round dance with singing, Kupalo, Zhnivni songs, and also wedding, lyric,
soldiers's, humorous songs. A band is the permanent participant of Kyiv
